The Truth Will Set You Free

Seek TruthThe idea of this blog has been stirring in me for the past four years.  It comes from watching other people blindly following direction from a trusted source; it can be a preacher, a medical expert, a counselor, a financial adviser, a boss, a friend or a family member – people  we want to trust.  But then something goes wrong.  The expert advice doesn’t work out so well.

People make mistakes.  This is not about minimizing  error.  We already know to weigh advice in second and third opinion.  This is not about Should Have, Would Have, Could Have or regrets.  This is about reclaiming our thoughts and our lives.  We may have to leave our comfort zone to discover truth.  The quest is to know the truth and embrace it.

This site, Truth-Will-Set-You-Free.org was titled from the Bible passage found in John 8:32 “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  The antecedent preceding “truth” is important:  THE TRUTH indicates there is one authoritative truth.  It is obvious that knowing a truth (ie. water runs downhill) is not going to set us free.

Bible passages were numbered in verses for indexing reasons and that was done much later.  So we cannot look at verses as complete thoughts.  We must read it all in context.  The context of this verse is where Jesus is addressing his believers (Christian Jews).  He gives a qualifying statement followed by a conditional promise.  You can read the entire passage in the Holy Bible or online at www.biblegateway.com.  I’m using the English Standard Version which can be selected from a drop down menu.

Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. Ps. 51:6

The blog topics will flow organically.  This is not a soapbox; maybe likened more to a think tank at times.  The clarification of the blog title is important.  Discussions may or may not be religious in nature but as a disclaimer, the articles within support the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and we are not extracting components and applying them universally, as sort of a twist.

While we can create our own reality, we cannot create our own truth.  Reality is subject to the truth.
